Ones of natural disaster is tsunami as we know that at 27th May 2006 tsunami had occurred Indonesia especially in Banda Aceh. Here I will explain about Tsunami.
The term of “tsunami” comes from the Japanese, meaning “harbor” (tsu, 津 ) and “wave” (nami, 波 ). Tsunami is a series of water waves caused by the displacement of a large volume of a body of water,
Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other underwater explosions, landslides and the others similar impact events, and other disturbances water, all have the potential to generate a tsunami. Usually an ocean, but can occur in large lakes.
Tsunamis can be generated when the sea floor abruptly deforms and vertically displaces the overlying water. Big earthquakes are particularly effective in generating tsunamis, and occur where denser oceanic plates slip under continental plates.
As the displaced water mass moves under the influence of gravity to regain its equilibrium, it radiates across the ocean like ripples on a pond.
Tsunami always causes great damage. Most of the damage is caused by the huge mass of water behind the initial wave front, as the height of the sea keeps rising fast and floods powerfully into the coastal area. The victims of the tsunami will be felt traumatized, especially children and women because it has been seen directly.
