Merapi Eruption Chronology


Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Geological Agency (BVMG) regularly reports on activities of Mount Merapi. According to the observations at 06.00 until 12.00 am, was still detected the sounds from the mountain and the lava flood.

This report from the Geological Agency, on Sunday (07/11/2010):

Observers of Mount Merapi from heading Ketep reported:

- At 9:00 pm, there have been small-scale lava floods in Kali Pabelan District Sawangan
- At 09:28 pm it was raining ash and sand, a radius of 10 km from the summit of Mount Merapi
- At 9:50 pm, heard the explosion
- At 10:20 pm the wind direction to west
- At 10:59 pm heard roar in the Western Ring Road

- At 11:05 came the sound blaring at Prambanan
- At 11:42 pyroclastic deposits in the Kali Senowo affected by rain water, releasing white smoke.
- At 11:43 pm to Kali Apu 3 km from the summit of Mount Merapi
- At 11:45 hrs of smoke into the Kali Gendol upstream as far as 300 meters. White Kali lava flood of moderate to large scale
and the save areas change to be 20 km from Merapi peak.

Geological Agency also urged people not to panic and be affected by the outstanding issues about the activities of Merapi and still follow the direction of local governments that have always coordinated with the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation.
